(出生於1960/01/22)，Manfred Temmel(出生於1959/02/25) ，和Andy Schweitzer 三人是同學。他們在1984年成立了JOY這個樂團。首支單曲“Lost In Hong Kong” 發表於1985年二月。雖然沒有極大的迴響，但下一支單曲“Touch By Touch”(發表於1985年九月)立即登上了歐洲舞曲排行榜的前二十名。首張專輯“h#llo”在許多的排行榜上都有連續五週名列第一的好成績。這為他們帶來了極高的知名度，而他們的專輯也在超過三十個國家中發行。
1986年夏天，JOY錄製了第二張專輯“Joy And Tears” ，此張專輯最熱門的歌曲就是“Japanese Girls”最熱門的歌曲就是“Japanese Girls” 。或許是因為這首歌的緣故，JOY在亞洲獲得了極大的好評。他們在1987的巡迴演出總計約有六十萬的觀眾參加。在漢城，他們在有兩萬個觀眾席的體育場表演，在那場表演後，JOY在南韓成為最受歡迎的團體。
